A NEW SPENDING BILL, NO PRICE TAG ATTACHED
On September 25, Alabama Political Reporter reported that Shomari Figures introduced the Public Service Educational Assistance Act.
The bill would direct the U.S. Department of Education to cover tuition, fees and books at public colleges, universities or public training programs for the children of educators, first responders and social workers with at least 20 years of qualifying service.
It creates a new federal spending program. The report does not say how it would be paid for.
He voted no on all five budget and funding measures the House took up between April and July.
